In our R.O.L.E. Youth Male Mentoring Program, we gather a small circle of up to 15 young men and give them something many have never had before: consistent guidance, high expectations, and a safe place to be heard. Over six 90‑minute sessions, ages 8 - 18 dive into real conversations about anger, respect, and manhood while learning concrete anger management techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and bullying prevention skills they can use the very next day.
Each session blends literacy activities with social skills mentoring, conflict resolution skill building, and time management, so scholars grow as thinkers and as young leaders. Through goal setting and planning, academic success coaching, and critical thinking development, participants learn how to raise grades, handle pressure, and make wise choices. Team-building exercises and a community service project - our Coping Boxes initiative with The COPE Network - show them that their voices and actions matter. Families and schools tell us they see the difference: calmer classrooms, stronger character, and young men who are finally stepping into their rightful role.
